The app generates a secure password unique to that site. It will always return the same secure password for the same site/easy password combo, so you can use it for looking up your password. It does not save the password, so if the phone is lost, you are still protected. If you lose your phone, you can still recover your passwords by downloading the app again and using the same simple password.
